While Carocon primarily operates in North and South Carolina, we’ve also provided construction services outside the region. By focusing on the Carolinas, our team forms personal relationships with an experienced group of subcontractors, developers and suppliers. Our knowledge and understanding of local municipal agencies and their practices minimizes issues and delays that can impact budgets and delivery dates.
Most of our work is completed on a negotiated basis with private developers who rely on us for budgets, schedules and plan reviews during the pre-construction process. However, we also competitively bid projects, particularly for public entities. For example, in past years, Carocon has undertaken several large tax credit, HOPE VI and HUD jobs for public housing authorities, saving these organizations time and money while still providing superior quality.
Carocon Corporation was found in July 1972 by John Huson, with our original stockholders: Trammel Crow, Mack Pogue and William Cooper. The company established its headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, and expanded with branch offices in Tampa, Florida and Wilmington, North Carolina.
In spring 1975, Carocon phased out activities in Wilmington and Tampa, and consolidated operations in the Charlotte office. Since then, Carocon has targeted construction services in the Carolinas. This strategic focus has allowed us to provide better service and build a reliable base of local suppliers, craftsman and subcontractors who help assure high-quality construction for decades to come.
Since its inception, Carocon has built a strong reputation for honesty and quality. This reputation, no doubt, accounts for a vast amount of business coming from referrals and our long-term client base.
